We found another great LiDAR course on TGC 2019! Check out ‘Mt. Hawley CC’, located in Peoria, Illinois.
This course has been home to the Illinois State Amateur golf tournament 7 times and hosted the 2020 Illinois State Senior Amateur. In 6 of the 7 State Amateurs, the winner was over par (exception: Jay Haas’s brother Jerry in 1984). It’s a shorter track (~6400) that equalizes long and short hitters via long rough and fast greens where approach angle is more important than distance. Par 71 with slope 132 and rating 71.2.
Background story: Mt. Hawley has served the Peoria area as a private Country Club since its founding in 1922. The setting of this beautiful property offers gorgeous panoramic views of the Illinois River.
The 18-hole golf course was renovated in 1996 by Lohmann Golf Design and rates as one of the top central Illinois golf facilities, and the Club has hosted over seven Illinois State Amateur Tournaments.
